Barbara Harris, the first woman bishop in the Anglican Communion, fought tirelessly for “the least, the lost, and the left out.”

People of Color Who Inspire is written to supplement the stories about saints in Volume 7 of The Complete Guide to Godly Play. The lesson “The Child’s Own Saint" invites the children and Godly Play mentors to write the story of one of their own heroes. This story, and the others in this collection, serves as an example of this–a hero who is not an official saint of the church, but a Christian person who inspires us all to strive for justice, and respect the dignity of every human being.

Cheryl V. Minor is the Director of the Center for the Theology of Childhood, the academic/publishing arm of the Godly Play Foundation. For the past eighteen years she has served as co-rector at The Parish of All Saints' Church in Belmont, Massachusetts. With a degree in Music Education from Boston University, an M.Div. from Virginia Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Psychology from Northcentral University in Scottsdale, Arizona. Dr. Minor is also a Godly Play Trainer and has been deeply involved in designing the Godly Play Foundation's training models. She lives in Belmont, Massachusetts.
